Excerpt: This report presents the results of our review of the effectiveness of the Internal Revenue Service?s (IRS) process for monitoring security weaknesses. The purpose of this review was to evaluate the Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&M) process employed by the IRS and determine whether the POA&M process satisfies the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) requirements and assists the agency in managing its risk and vulnerabilities.
