Sinhgad College of Engineering is a technical education institute in the city of Vadgaon (Budruk), Pune, India. The institute is affiliated with the University of Pune and managed by the Sinhgad Technical Education Society (STES). The college takes its name from the nearby Maratha fort. It has been accredited by the National Board of Accreditation and recognized by the AICTE. The institute has also been awarded an "A" Grade by The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Maharashtra State, Mumbai.[1]

Admissions

65% of students are admitted on the basis of marks scored on the Maharashtra Engineering Entrance Test (JEE) and 15% of the students from outside Maharashtra state are admitted through the All-India Engineering Entrance Exam (AIEEE).

Placements And Higher Education

The training and placement cell on the campus is in charge of preparing students in the third (and sometimes fourth) year to appear for campus interviews. In recent years, companies such as Microsoft, NVidia, Persistent Systems, Accenture, Symantec, TCS, IBM India, Cognizant, Infosys, SunGuard, Larsen & Toubro Infotech, General Motors, TCTS, CMC Ltd, Lafarge, Daimler Chrysler, Shapoorji Pallonji, Cyronics, and Kirloskar Brothers have been some of the companies that have actively recruited undergraduates. For the past three years maximum salary reached to 8 lacs/annum, with the average being around 2.5 lacs/annum. The placement scenario of the past years is as follows (academic year, then number of placements):

Recently in 2012 Barclays Investment Bank has also approached SCOE for offering placements and internships to students from branches like IT and Computer engg with high salaries. For 2012, Barclays selected 1 student from SCOE and 4 from SKNCOE(sister institute) for the position of Analyst with an undisclosed high salary. .Microsoft has joined the league of placement giving companies in the previous year and selected a couple of students. Students here surely have a promising future if they have an above average academic record. Many Students opt for higher education at eminent institutes including:

Student organizations and clubs

Sinhgad College of Engineering hosts a wide range of student bodies to cultivate a sense of community among the students while at the same time providing them with opportunities and challenges. SCOE's many organizations and clubs help foster a spirit of leadership development and event planning among the students as well as act as a platform for interacting with alumni and industry professionals. The activities of these organization is managed by a specially elected student body under the guidance of an assigned staff coordinator.

Apart from these clubs each individual department has its own Student body to carry out Departmental activities.

Excelsior

Each year Excelsior is conducted by the College which is a national technical event. It is a coherent work undertaken by all departments jointly with an elected student body. The technical event generally is conducted in second semister of academic year. With participation of over 10,000 students from various institutes over the span of three days.

Excelsior is being conducted years together with active coordination of sponsorers who fund the event.

Sinhgad College Of Engineering's sister institutes are Smt. Kashibai Navale College of Engineering, Vadgaon; Sinhgad Academy Of Engineering, kondhwa.

Extra-curricular activities

Sinhgad College Of Engineering witnesses one major fest during an academic year, namely The Sinhgad Karandak, which is further divided into 4 fests namely Sports Karandak, Neon, Techtonic and Spectrum. Where Sports Karandak is a sports fest, Neon is a cultural fest, Techtonic is a technical fest and Spectrum is a management fest. Techtonic, Neon and spectrum runs for around 10 days in the first week on February. Prof. Manohar Kodmelwar who is responsible for Sports event at SCOE has conducted various national and State level sports Events.
