The Satellite Awards are annual awards given by the International Press Academy that are commonly noted in entertainment industry journals and blogs.[1][2] The awards were originally known as the Golden Satellite Awards. The award ceremonies take place each year at the InterContinental Hotel in Century City, Los Angeles.[3]
In 2011, Satellite nominations in the motion picture categories have been pared down from 22 to 19 classifications; the change reflects the merger of drama and comedy under a general Best Picture heading, including the Best Actor/Actress headings and the Supporting headings.[4]
* In 2011, the International Press Academy combined the drama, comedy, and musical film awards into one category, affecting Best Film, Actor and Actress, and the Supporting Awards.
