Metro (department store)

Metro is a department store in Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines and other countries, operating 2 store in the Philippines, 5 in Jakarta, one in Bandung, one in Makassar and one in Surabaya

The first METRO store opened in 1991 at Mall Pondok Indah. The second store at Plaza Senayan opened in 1995. The third store followed in Bandung, at the newest and largest shopping mall, Bandung Supermall in October 2001. At Mall Taman Anggrek, focusing on a more sophisticated clientele, offering a more luxurious choice of brands the fourth Metro Department store was launched in February 2002. After the further openings of Metro Pacific Place in Jakarta and Metro Trans Studio in Makassar, the latest store to be launched to the chain was the opening of Metro Gandaria City in February 2011.

The 7 department stores with more than 1,000,000 square feet (93,000 m2) of retail space offer a wide variety of merchandise from well-known international labels to famous local brands.

The chain's CEO and President Christine Barki has been featured in the 100 Next-Era CEOs in Asia 2011 by Japan Times.[1]
